Lisa Marshall is an award-winning health writer with two decades of experience writing for newspapers and magazines. From 1996 to 2006 she served as an editor and writer for the Daily Camera, the daily newspaper for Boulder, Colo. There, she helped create the GET OUT! Page (the nation's first daily outdoor recreation section) before moving into the role of health editor. In 2006, Lisa left the newspaper business to pursue a career as a freelance writer, with a dual emphasis on integrative medicine, and sustainable living. She is a regular contributor to Natural Solutions Magazine, Women's Adventure Magazine, Delicious Living, Nutrition Business Journal, The Denver Post, The Daily Camera, and an array of trade, custom, and consumer publications.
As a journalist with a penchant for a good adrenaline rush, she has scaled ice falls and rock walls, steered dog sled teams and paragliders, and bushwhacked deep in the African jungle in pursuit of a good story. In 2008, she traveled to genocide-ravaged Rwanda, in central Africa, to report a series on the country's health care system. In 2009, she spent three weeks in the Himalayas to report on the status of women in post-Civil War Nepal.
When Lisa is not writing or spending time with her four children, she runs trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. She lives in the foothills west of Boulder with her husband Ron, her daughters, Skylar and Sage, her dogs Gussie and Lucky, and her seven chickens.
